How to Pair an RBC Wireless Switch with a Controller

A practical guide to pairing an RBC101 or 300 series wireless switch with an REVBC receiving controller, including the small details that prevent most pairing problems.

What this guide covers

This guide shows how to pair an RBC wireless switch with a receiving controller. The video uses an RBC101 switch mechanism, but the same process applies to the 300 series European-style switches and key fobs.

Before you start

  • Make sure the controller is powered and accessible.
  • Keep the wireless switch with you rather than installing it first.
  • Check the product data sheet if your controller uses a different commissioning sequence.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Press and hold the button on the controller for around three seconds, or until the red LED begins to flash.
  2. Release the controller button as soon as the LED begins flashing. Holding it for longer may put the controller into bridging mode instead.
  3. Give the wireless switch a short, sharp click. Do not hold the switch button down while pairing.
  4. Test the switch before leaving the controller or fixing the switch into position.

Useful tips

  • Never hold the switch button in when pairing; a brief click gives the controller the signal it expects.
  • Only hold the controller button for three seconds, or until the red LED starts to flash.
  • Pair the switch before installation. Controllers are often in a roof space, and this saves a second person standing below pressing the switch.

Troubleshooting

If the switch does not pair, repeat the sequence and pay particular attention to the length of the controller-button press and the short click on the switch. If the controller has accidentally entered another programming mode, leave that mode or reset it in accordance with its own data sheet before trying again.
